DaaS: Cloud-based mobile Web service discovery

چکیده
The proliferation of smartphones and the recent advancement in ubiquitous wireless access have made mobile Web services more possible than ever before. However, finding relevant Web services that can match requests and fit user context remains a major concern. The challenges facingWeb service discovery are furthermagnified by the stringent constraints of mobile devices and the inherit complexity of wireless heterogeneous networks. Cloud computing, with its flexible design and theoretically unlimited computing resources, is a viable approach to bootstrappingWeb service discovery. The cloud can build bridges between mobile devices, as a convenient ubiquitous interface, and a backbone infrastructure with abundant computing resources. This paper introduces ‘‘Discovery as a service (Daas)’’, a novel cloud-based discovery framework that addresses the core components of mobile Web service discovery. The DaaS framework lays the foundation of efficient mobile Web service discovery that takes into consideration user preferences and context. The experimental validation and performance evaluation demonstrate that DaaS can effectively rank relevant services according to the various user context and preferences, in addition to enhancing the precision of the discovered services. The prototype also shows that Web service clustering for discovery significantly improves the overall response time, while the cloud maintains scalability according to prespecified performance criteria. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. Abstract The cloud computing is undoubtedly a great achievement of the computer networks. In this environment, various services have been provided but users should take the trouble to find the services they need. Although researchers have tried to solve the needs of users to information on the web, their studies enjoy strengths and weaknesses and there is no comprehensive system for the disc...
متن کاملTowards Privacy-preserving Data-as-a-Service Mashups
Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) is a paradigm that provides data on demand to consumers across different cloud platforms over the Internet. Yet, a single DaaS provider may not be able to fulfill a data request. Consequently, the concept of DaaS mashup was introduced to enable DaaS providers to dynamically integrate their data on demand depending on consumers’ requests. Utilizing DaaS mashup, however, ...

The ability to discover services in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a major prerequisite. Cluster basedcross layer intelligent service discovery for MANET (CBISD) is cluster based architecture, caching ofsemantic details of services and intelligent forwarding using network layer mechanisms. The cluster basedarchitecture using semantic knowledge provides scalability and accuracy. Also, the mini...
متن کاملWhen Free Is Not Really Free: What Does It Cost to Run a Database Workload in the Cloud?
The current computing trend towards cloud-based Databaseas-a-Service (DaaS) as an alternative to traditional on-site relational database management systems (RDBMSs) has largely been driven by the perceived simplicity and cost-effectiveness of migrating to a DaaS. However, customers that are attracted to these DaaS alternatives may find that the range of different services and pricing options av...
متن کاملHigh Fuzzy Utility Based Frequent Patterns Mining Approach for Mobile Web Services Sequences
Nowadays high fuzzy utility based pattern mining is an emerging topic in data mining. It refers to discover all patterns having a high utility meeting a user-specified minimum high utility threshold. It comprises extracting patterns which are highly accessed in mobile web service sequences. Different from the traditional fuzzy approach, high fuzzy utility mining considers not only counts of mob...
